Christmas 2007 Caught on Tape
So, we just uploaded a bunch of videos taken on Christmas this year. Just click on over to our videos page and view gems such as Nick's reaction to the loot from Santa, the boys opening and playing with a few gifts, and Nick falling asleep at the dinner table after a hard day of playing (wow- we had to capture that on film to believe that it could ever have happened!). Merry Christmas!
Hope that all of our readers had a great Christmas! We had a lovely Christmas here in Maine, although we wish we could have spent the time on the west coast too. The boys fared very well and seemed to have a great time opening gifts and playing with new toys. I think that Nick is really starting to get it this year. He was excited but seemed somewhat unsure as to what might possibly happen. Once Christmas morning came, he started getting more and more excited as the morning went on. Next year should be a blast! :)

A little pre-christmas cheer
Merry Christmas to friends and family near and far!
So, this post was meant to get out a few days ago... Anyhow, we've been busy preparing for the holidays. Nick has been a fabulous help and was getting very excited for Christmas. Here are a few new pictures of Nick and Tim preparing for Xmas.

'Tis the season
Greetings from the winter wonderland that is Maine these days!
We had another 8 or so inches of snow yesterday followed by some freezing rain, resulting in a sparkly landscape this morning. It was quite beautiful, especially since we didn't need to travel anywhere. The boys have enjoyed playing in the snow,
although they get cold pretty quickly with the temperatures that we've been having. Nick's favorite snow activity is shoveling
....now if I can only keep that up until he's 12 or so!
Not much new here lately. The boys have both been battling a winter cold so we've been keeping a pretty low profile.
Lots of green slugs and coughing - not lots of fun. Hopefully, they're on the tail end of that adventure and with luck, mom and dad will manage to avoid this one (knock on wood).
I think that Tim may have taken his first crawling step forward today. He only did it once so I can't be sure, but he's got to be moving forward some time soon. His latest trick has been to get from laying on his belly up to sitting. That's pretty fun! He's also still rocking
and scooting backwards (especially under the couch).
For the first time ever, we're ready for Christmas early.
Nick helped us set up and decorate the tree.
We've been baking cookies, with lots of help from Nick too!

Slide show and undocumented features
So for those of you who've tried the new slide show stuff and noticed that the link to 'Tim!' didn't work, I've fixed the glitch (please, 'bug' is such a harsh word...). It should now work. Let me know at greg@stpierrefamily.org if you notice anything else.
You'll also have a much better viewing experience using Firefox. Internet Explorer (another high quality product from the folks in Redmond) seems to have some problems with the CSS I'm using to format things. I'll look into fixing that for braindead browsers, but for now stick to Firefox if you can.

9-month update
So, Tim is 9 months and just had his checkup today. Besides a clean bill of health and complements from the doctor on how cute he is (hey, I know she probably says that to everyone, but its still nice to hear), here are the stats: 20 lbs 5 oz (50th percentile), 29" (75th percentile) and 47.5cm head circumference (95th percentile). So, it looks like our big boy is not that big after all, just average but has caught up to his big brother when it comes to brain size. Sounds like another smart cookie! :)

Toothy McTootherson
Yep, Tim "the Tooth" St. Pierre has been at it again. His two upper front teeth are starting to come in nicely (although Greg still says he looks a little like Sponge Bob...), and so I thought, the coast must be clear for a little while. But no. Tim not only sprouted a new tooth on Friday (2nd tooth from the center on his left side on the bottom - not sure what number that is but I'm sure that you dental professionals in the audience can help out with that one!) but also sprouted another new one (2nd tooth from the center on his left side on the top) today, Sunday! Wow! So maybe that's what all of the screaming was about last night at 1am? (It makes me feel better to attribute it to something specific rather than just Tim's idea of fun ;) )
Besides sprouting chompers left and right, Tim is just about ready to crawl. I know, ok, we keep saying that, but really, it could happen any day now. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth a lot. He also just figured out how to go into the crawl position from sitting (although he still gets his foot stuck a bit) and has started crawling his way forward with his hands to try and reach toys (usually Nick's, of course). Things are certainly going to get interesting once Tim is completely mobile! (he already scoots forward on his bottom, and backward on his belly, in addition to rolling across the room with lightning speed)
As a baby, there are new very obvious and notable milestones that are reached seemingly all of the time. Once you're 3, its much more subtle. Lately, we've been working on expressing feelings (esp. anger and frustration) with words and Nick has been doing really well. I feel like it's a huge milestone , maybe the turning point between toddler and little kid. The other day we were out playing in the snow (we got a decent sized storm - 18+ inches at the beginning of last week) and Nick growled/yelled at the snow. I asked what was up and he told me he did it because he was angry with the snow. I asked why and he said because it got in the way (18+inches is really pretty deep when you're only a little over 3 feet tall!). Having him be able (and willing) to tell me what was bothering him and why he was upset was wonderful!
Nick is doing well all around. His teachers at preschool always comment on what a bright kiddo he is. He's getting pretty good at helping Mom and following directions (when he wants to) as well. In addition, big brother Nick is making great strides with sharing toys with his brother, a very difficult concept to master (heck, a lot of adults still aren't there).
Ok, can't think of any other news to report at this time. Sorry no pictures right now (I'l try to get some up later this week) because Greg is in using the computer where we keep the pictures. He is currently giving our website a much-needed facelift (woo hooo!!!) - check it out - it looks pretty slick!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Where did November go? Hard to believe its December at the end of the week! We just celebrated Thanksgiving with a weekend full of the famous "Sidell family fun." Jess, John & Mason made the journey north (yet again) for a visit (Thanks guys!). It was quite a sight getting all of the boys together - family gatherings will never be the same again! They are starting to actually notice each other and played together really nicely with only a few little bruises here and there :)
The boys are both doing really well and having lots of fun these days -sometimes, even together too!
Nick's imagination has just blossomed! One of his new favorite games is pretending to be Dr. Nicholas. For each patient, he takes blood pressure, listens to their heart (mine usually says "boop boop boop boop boop"), gives a bandaid, checks their mouth and throat (everyone has 20 teeth!), and of course, gives a few shots (using very avant garde methods as some are in the foot and hair). Very cute :)
Tim is working on his next pair of teeth. We're not sure if it'll be the upper or lower but he sure is chewing alot and drooling up a storm! He's doing much better in the eating department too. He'll eat some baby food these days although he still prefers to feed himself. Tim is also pretty mobile these days, scooting backward or rolling around the room. Plus, he's also on the verge of crawling - watch out! He's up on his hands and knees these days and will likely be moving in the next week or 2!!

Surprise!
We did it! Greg, Nick, Tim and I flew out to Seattle a couple of weeks ago to surprise Nana for her 60th birthday. Thanks to careful planning and participation by friends and family on both coasts, we were able to pull off the surprise completely :) Great job to everyone!!

To make sure that Nana and Pepere got to celebrate some of his milestones, Tim had a banner week while in Seattle. It started with the arrival of his first upper front tooth the night before we flew out (Oct 25). On Sunday and Monday, he added what we are calling his first words - ball and mama. He said "ba" while playing with the ball,
and "mama" while looking at me - ok, so maybe its a coincidence, but we just like to think that its because he's a prodigy ;) He rounded out the week by learning to feed himself - when we arrived, he couldn't pick up cheerios on his own; by the time we left, he was picking them up with his thumb and forefinger, and getting them into his mouth. And, not to be forgotten, the companion upper front tooth arrived the night before our flight back (Nov 2). Phew - quite a week!
