Last Day of Preschool

Tim's last day of preschool was on Friday and he was very excited for the ceremony and ice cream social planned for the day. I pulled out shorts and a tshirt for him to wear but he asked if he could wear a tie. Who am I to argue, so we dressed him up!

The kids had a little bit of their regular day but then we came back in the morning for the program. The kids gathered in the bathroom and then marched out together to start

They sang a few songs for us

and then had their "graduation" ceremony. Tim said he wanted to be a policeman when he grows up

I'm sad that we're almost done with our time at Highland but know that both of my kids have benefited so much from their time there.

Goal!

Now that the kids are big enough, we finally set up the basketball hoop that we inherited a couple of years ago. The kids, and Nick especially, are having a ball with it...

Cheep cheep

Tim's preschool class incubated some fertilized eggs and hatched 3 chicks this spring. The chicks needed a home and we were planning to bring them home to live with our neighbor across the street (who was getting some new chicks this spring and offered to take the few from school). Tim was really excited but when we got to school on the morning that we were going to bring them home, we learned that there had been a mix up and they had been sent home with someone else. Tim was so disappointed... Thankfully, the kind and wonderful folks at Forest's Edge Gardens understood his disappointment and moved us to the top of the waiting list for 3 hatched chicks (the order was small enough that they could do that).

On Monday, we got the call that the chicks were ready! Nick, Tim, Nana and I went over to pick them up. They were sexed and we got 3 with the pink toenails :)

The boys were super excited to ride home with them

But perhaps even more excited to take them out and look at them before we brought them over to their new home.

They were so fluffy and cute!

And so tired after all of the excitement of hatching and being manhandled by little boys

They've been living across the street and are growing like crazy! They've almost gotten all of their regular feathers and will likely be able to head outside for the first time this week!

Concert time!

Last week, Nick's school put on a concert by all of the first graders. It had to be the cutest thing ever.... The kids had been practicing for weeks and weeks and to say that they were excited would be a huge understatement. When I told Nick that he had to change his clothes before he went, he actually asked if I had a tie for him to wear. (Yikes, I did not! Thankfully, there was one that went with an old dress up outfit that we had for Tim - phew!) He looked so handsome, if I don't say so myself! IMG_0843 We got to the school a little early and am glad that we did since the gym was already mostly full! I took Nick to his teacher while Greg and Tim scouted out seats. We ended up getting some (score! since many parents ended up standing) and were able to hold up the camera get a few pictures and video from the event over the heads of the people in front of us but hopefully, without blocking the view of everyone behind... It was so cute! They opened with this number: and then did this: But, my favorite of all was this one where Nick had a speaking part: Too cute!
