just a little taste

Now that I'm on the mend, I couldn't leave you with only one post over the entire week. So, here's a little taste of our Xmas break...

Season's greetings

We've had a busy and great holiday season so far. Lots of fun with friends and family that will likely make it up on the blog at some point, although not until the festivities (and bugs) settle down here. In the meantime, feel free to peruse some photos here.

Wishing you peace in the new year!

Christmas Card Outtakes, part 2

We started to work on the Christmas card photos early this year since its been such a challenge in years past (like here and here)

Thankfully, the boys were pretty good this time (maybe something to do with the chocolate I promised them once we finished?) and we got some good shots.  Here are a few though that didn't quite make the cut....

Nick looks like he's stalking T here...

Um, no

Good job holding up the sign, but not quite what I was after

Doesn't he look mischievous here?

Belly shot!

uh oh, here comes Nick

Love the tongue

That's a growl of joy

don't even know what to say here

Not quite an expression of joy

thanks

a little better :)

and even a little better still

But, then we got it!

Happy holidays to all!

Decorating the tree

We had fun decorating our tree a little ways back. The boys were really excited to look at the ornaments and hear the stories behind each one. They also really got a kick out of seeing the picture ornaments of them from each year

Almost a card-worthy shot!

as you can see, the opportunity for which didn't last long...

Highland Christmas

Tim's class had their Christmas party last Thursday and both Greg and I had the pleasure of attending.

The kids were a little nervous with the different format and since all of the parents stayed

but they soon got right into it!

They sang a few songs for us and then had a special visitor

Tim was excited at first but then decided he didn't want to go up, until I offered to go with him (he really wanted one of those candy canes!)

Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas and he told him "something I don't have". Should be easy enough to fill that request!

Tim enjoying a snack (he requested the veggies...I know, he's a freak)

prepping for Christmas

The morning after the Christmas light tour, we all met up in Orono to pick out and cut down Christmas trees.

Here are the boys emerging from the party van (am I the only one thinking that this is just a preview of what we're going to see in about 10 or so years? with slightly different version of partying, of course...)

Everyone was dressed up and ready to go!

And off we went in search of the perfect trees!

Some of us got a little tired along the way

but thankfully managed a miraculous recovery

Or got to hitch a ride

Once we finally reached the stand of perfect trees, there was a lot of careful consideration to pick just the right one

The trees were selected and the cutting operation began

We did run into the Christmas dinosaur while we were out

But thankfully escaped and made it back to Grandma's for a little snack

reminiscing about the old days

and cookie decorating

and posing

(how does he manage to look good in every stinkin picture? I usually look drunk, cognitively limited, or crazed... or all three!)

Of course, no gathering would be complete without a little wrestling
