sick day

We had our first casualty of the season this week, when we got the call from Nick's preschool teachers to come in to pick him up early, since he was just laying down up on the reading loft and telling the teachers he was tired. I brought him home and he went straight up to bed and slept for 4 hours straight-during the day! Yikes - he really didn't feel well! Poor kiddo!

Thankfully, it was a quick bug and by the next morning, he was able to keep food down and the fever seemed to have broken. He was still knocked out though and spent the entire morning laying on the couch. By afternoon, he was up and moving and running around by dinner time. Phew!

rockin' out

Today I went to the first concert I've been to in quite some time. I knew the words to most of the songs and sang along. I had a great time. It was a Rick Charette concert...

Wow - how things change once you have kids! The boys came with me and we all did have a fun time. Tim totally LOVED it! He was listening to what Rick was saying and doing the moves right along with him, as well as dancing and clapping wildly. It was abdolutely adorable! Nick had a little sensory overload but was able to relax and join in the fun for the second part of the concert.

a day at the beach

Before both kids were back in school, we spent a great day down in Saco visiting good friends. The kids were fabulous for the ride down and back (phew!) and we had so much fun playing and catching up!

Great visit! Thanks guys :)

Nick especially loved playing in the water (even though it wasn't that warm out!)

visit with the Kettells September 09, part 1

Jess, Mason & Fiona made an impromptu visit up north last week much to everyone's delight! Our visiting extravaganza started out with a trip to the bog walk.

Getting the kids together for a posed picture with Grandma who stopped by between errands was evidently not in the cards.

Fiona cooperated with the camera though:

Ok, for a little while:

Big cousin Nick helped with the little kids:

And there was also some snacking:

Fiona and Nick were quite smitten with each other :)

A fabulous time!

Taking a hike

For Labor Day, the whole family headed out for a hike! While this was a slightly different version of hiking than we used to do with Greta back in Washington,

it was still great to get everyone outside :)

The boys had a great time running down the trail

and looking at all of the plants and animals (Nick saw a spider).

Then we spent a little time combing the beach for seaglass and other treasures.

Jake seemed to particularly enjoy himself too.

We finished the outing up with a picnic lunch. Hope this is the first of many family hikes :)
