Take a hike

The boys and I decided to kick off their first full week of summer vacation with a quick local "hike". I've heard about Chick Hill since I was little but had never actually been there so we decided to change that!

It was pretty easy to find but has evidently changed a bit since most of the trail guides were published. The trail is now an unmarked ( or disguised as Black rd) gravel road. We lucked out and picked the right way ( its really not that hard). Nick struggled a little with motivation and cooperation but Tim was a trooper and we all made it to the top! I think that we all agreed that it was worth it once we were there and saw the view from Katahdin to Cadillac. Gorgeous!
A great way to start vacation!

Last day of school

We had a rainy couple of days for the last few days of school. The rain didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm at all though

Uncle Kevin really got the party going when he arrived to pick up Soren on the last day with a special treat:)

Awards

This year Nick had the honor of being one of 10 nominees for a leadership award at school! Although he didnt win, being selected out of the 130 second graders is quite an accomplishment. We couldn't be prouder!

(In case you are wondering, I purposefully  blurred the faces of other kiddos)

End of school

MHard to believe that we've made it through another school year. The boys classes celebrated with field trips and I was lucky enough to join them. Tim was super excited for his to a rocky beach in sears port.

Even though he doesn't look like it here he had fun :). I gained a whole new appreciation for K teachers (who I already had the utmost respect for) when  I was in charge of 5 kindergarteners who were all going in directions!

The big kid attitude was alive and well with 75 second graders at the bog walk! We had a great time :)
