Rainier bound

We got into the Seattle airport and were met by a very happy nana and pepere. They hung out with the boys while we waited for the luggage. Happily, both of our bags made it to Seattle by the same time we did. The kids headed down to nana & pepere's house with them while Greg and I went to pick up the rental car. Although a tad slow since their computers were down, we got a rockin' blue Chevy econobox and set off down 167 and enjoyed the rather spectacular roadside scenery. Here's the view from the road, and as we got a little closer.



The next morning, after a leisurely start, we decided to head to Sunrise so Nick could see the volcano. All 6 of us piled into the truck (not sure why Tim looked so unhappy since he probably had more room than anyone in the back seat)


(a side note: this was the last picture our little camera took.... 1st day of vacation, it decided to have a lens error...bleah! Thankfully, it was still under warranty, and we just got it back repaired and working again. Huge thanks to pepere who loaned us his p&s while we were out west)

We made it to Sunrise just in time for lunch and had a lovely picnic with some beautiful scenery.


The kids wandered around a little and we went for a little hike (maybe about a quarter mile on the trails)


Nick started work to become a junior ranger


It was a lovely, low key, relaxed day!
