This year, instead of doing the full MDI, we decided to run the marathon as a relay and it was SO MUCH FUN!! :) It was a different scene from last year - more people (running and watching), less serious and intense vibe from the crowd, and BEAUTIFUL weather. It was pretty last year but this year, it was honestly breathtaking and now I truly understand why it was named the most scenic marathon by Runner's World. Here are just a few shots from the course (taken from a moving car, no less):
Plus, nothing really compares to being able to share the experience with friends. 6 of us ran the relay together split into 2 teams of 3 and despite injury and differing speeds, we stuck together the whole way. It was awesome. :)
I ran the first 8.5 miles with Emilie. It was beautiful but tough. I didn't remember all of those hills from last year :) We switched off with Susan and Christine at Seal Harbor and then leapfrogged the runners with the car.
